TAKE OFF is an artistic installation in public space.

It is also a collection of extraordinary stories gathered in situ.

Immense birds, fabulous and formidable crows, unfold across public space.

These female birds tell us stories, both real and fictional, of openings and ruptures, of joyful and victorious struggles, of survival, territories and space.

They celebrate and bring to life our own stories of taking flight, as well as those of our sisters, mothers and grandmothers.

Stories gathered in situ, transformed and woven into the installation itself.

Here, these immense crows become messengers of the invisible: fluorescent anti-monuments, charged with stories of taking flight.

Through these monumental collages, visual artist Maëva Longvert explores territory and public space. The approach behind TAKE OFF draws inspiration from Habiter en oiseau (Inhabiting as a Bird), a book in which philosopher Vinciane Despret reveals how the ways these species live can inspire us to imagine other ways of being in the world.

If we are willing to listen, birds speak to us of collective strategies, embodied and sensitive intelligence, protection, traps outwitted, joy, play and escape through the sky.

For TAKE OFF, Stève Romani-Soccoro contributes to and deepens the reflection on the inclusion of marginalised people, notably through the collection and storytelling of narratives of resistance. Their perspective and experience help shape the project and inform its political and social dimensions.

Maëva Longvert develops the project alongside Samira Boukhnous, who collaborates on its writing, and Audrey Gary, Marianne Masson and Quelen Lamouroux, who contribute to its choreographic composition.

This collective process brings together storytelling, writing, performance and installation to create a monumental artistic experience.
